But while talking to the car salesman, he never worried about what was wrong with it. The salesman (trying to get rid of this piece of junk) told the president that this car was in great shape and there would probably never be another car like this one. He also told the president that if anyone tried to tell him that this car was loud and smoked that they were just jealous and making it up. The president, happy to hear that someone might be jealous of him bought the car right away with his countrys money. The president remembering what the car salesman had said thought these people were just jealous and pretending that his car was making all the smoke and noise. So he proudly drove around his 4-speed car through the streets ignoring everyone that laughed at him. Now during the time the president was out buying new cars the American people more money because their jobs werent paying enough. The president was giving less and less money every time he gave out money, so he would have money to buy a new car. The fact that his people were starting to starve didnt bother him at all. A couple of weeks later he was out to buy another car. He went back to the salesman that had sold him the Escort earlier. The president told the salesman that people actually laughed at his previous purchase. Then the salesman and president laughed because they were sure that those people were just jealous and making that stuff up about the car. Even though the salesman knew that those people were right about the car, he didnt tell the president because he wanted to make more money by selling more useless cars. The president then came across a garbage truck. He had never bought a garbage truck before and thought that it would help make his collection more complete. On the outside the truck wasnt too bad, they had at least washed it. But inside was a mess. There was still trash in the back of the truck too! The truck gave off a horrible smell, and people knew when the president was coming miles before he even got there. Again the salesman told the president that there wasnt any smell, and the people only said that because they still jealous of what the president could buy. One day the president had a meeting with his workers. They tried to tell the president that this car salesman was ripping him off. They told him of the countrys problems with money, and that he shouldnt spend the peoples money on cars that are useless, and that people werent lying when they said that his cars smelled, or smoked out of the engine, and fell apart as he drove down the road. Major Depressive Disorder Assessment Strategies Introduction The mental health problem that I have selected is Major Depressive Disorder. This can be recognized by low mood, low self-esteem and loss of pleasure in normal activities. This is known by many names such as clinical depression, unipolar depression and major depressive disorder. The symptoms interfere with all areas of a person’s life- personal, social and economic and are experienced most days and have been present for at least two weeks. Depression can be described as mild, moderate or severe; melancholic or psychotic. (BeyondBlue, 2014) Depression has a high lifetime prevalence one in seven Australians will experience depression in their lifetime. (ABS, 2009). Ranked 13.3%, depression has the third highest burden of all diseases in Australia (AIHW, 2007). Assessment Framework The purpose of a conducting a clinical assessment is to gather information enabling the clinician to determine what is likely to be causing impairment in the individual’s functioning. I would develop a hypothesis and proceed to rule in/ rule out associated disorders while progressing through the process. Each individual case would require consideration for options regarding, interview, symptoms checklists and behavioral assessments. (Goldfinger Pomerantz, 2010) The structured process of assessment would include File Review Collateral Information I would check the GP referral and conduct a file review, appraising historical information and copies of reports and notes from previous interviews. (Week2, Weekly Notes). I would also gather collateral information from significant others to assist in the overall assessment of the individual Clinical Assessment To determine what symptoms the individual is presenting I would conduct a face-to-face initial interview. I would establish parameters of assessment (e.g. informed consent and confidentiality) and build rapport with the individual through the acceptance, understanding and respect. (Phares Trull, 1997). This would enable the individual to feel comfortable and gain trust in the process. Groth-Marnat (2003) discuss the benefit of the face-to-face interview as enabling the clinician to make behavioural observations and note the idiosyncrasies and reaction to their current challenges and difficulties including the risk of harm to self and others. I would take note of the history of the presenting difficulties and note the onset of symptoms. I would also conduct a psychosocial evaluation. (Wright, 2011). Psychological Testing: Selection, administration and interpretation A psychological test uses standardised materials, administration instructions, time limits and scoring procedures for all test takers.(Cohen et al, 1996). This step in the process would assess the individual’s appearance, behaviour, speech, mood, thought processes, attention, memory and level of consciousness through the use of the Mental Status Examination (Daniel Crider, 2003). I would also assess the presence of symptoms consistent with diagnostic criteria for depression. As outlined in Wright (2011), to support the hypothesis of depression I would use self-report, symptom focused measure such as Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders (SCID) or Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) during the interview phase. In selecting the diagnostic tools I would review validated assessment tools in line with major international classification for depressive conditions such as DSM-IV-TR Criteria for Major Depressive Episode and Major Depressive Disorder (APA, 2000). I could use the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) to help develop treatment plans and differential diagnosis (Butcher et al, 1989). A trained professional with the expertise in depressive disorders should administer, score and interpret the information. The analysis of test scores would be transformed into a standardized metric and compared to various sets of norms. Psychological tests are only one element of the assessment and should never be used alone as the sole basis for a diagnosis. A detailed history of the individual and a review of psychological, medical, educational, or other relevant records are required to lay the groundwork for interpreting the results of any psychological measurement. (FAQS, 2014) Psychological Assessment Report Feedback In the writing of the report I would first determine who the audience would be- i.e. referring GP, case manager or individual and include background information that had been gathered during the semi-structured interview. The outline of each test conducted and the results of the symptom and behavioral checklists, along the results from structured interview and behavioral assessment would be included in the report. (Goldfinger Pomerantz, 2010) Modification of approach for different individual populations Cultural and language differences in the individual may affect test performance and may result in inaccurate test results. There is also the potential for the standardized testing to exhibitâ€Å"cultural bias† (Goldstein Hersen, 2000). I would need to be aware before psychological testing begins if the individual is not fluent in English and/or belongs to a minority culture. I would need to consider the inclusion of an interpreter or cultural support person during the assessment. (ACAP, 2013) Different tests would also need to be considered that were age specific i.e. Child, Adolescent or Elderly. Conclusion Overall, the psychological assessment holds avitalrole in counseling and clinical practice. Without the useof psychological testing, the treatment of thepatientwould not be as effective and fewer people wouldreceivethe necessaryhelpthey need to live a healthy life. The Individual and The System   One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Many social issues and problems are explored in Ken Kesey's novel One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Perhaps the most obvious complaint against society is the treatment of the individual. This problem of the individual versus the system is a very controversial topic that has provoked great questioning of the government and the methods used to treat people who are unable to conform to the government's standards. McMurphy is an individual who is challenging and rebelling against the system's rules and practices. He eventually teaches this practice of rebellion to the other patients who begin to realize that their lives are being controlled unfairly by the mental institution. When McMurphy first arrives at the institution, all of the other patients are afraid to express their thoughts to the Big Nurse. They are afraid to exercise their thoughts freely, and they believe that the Big Nurse will punish them if they question her authority. One patient, Harding, says, "All of us in here are rabbits of varying ages and degrees...We need a good strong wolf like the nurse to teach us our place" (Kesey 62). This novel has a very strong theme of government rejecting those who are considered nonconformists in modern society. The government then places these nonconformists in mental institutions so it will not have to deal with them. This is society's way of ditching those with nonconformist attitudes so they will disappear from the world and be forgotten. According to one critic, oppressive, conformist, regulatory, civilization is the suppressor of individual freedom (Barsness 433). "He (McMurphy) hadn't let what he looked like run his life one way or the other,anymore than he'd let the Combine (the characters' metaphor for the government) mill him into fitting where they wanted him to fit...He's not gonna let them twist him and manufacture him" (Kesey 153). McMurphy is symbolized as the typical individual, while Big Nurse Ratched is symbolized as a member of the system, or the Combine. Bromden narrates, "McMurphy doesn't know it, but he's onto what I realized a long time back, that it's not just the Big Nurse by herself, but it's the whole Combine, the nation-wide Combine that's the really big force, and the nurse is just a high-ranking official for them" (181).

Technologies are getting high-tech. Everyone wants to have the latest gadgets like cell phones. As cell phones improved, more features are added that causes some problems to some school systems. Allowing students to have their phone in school has been debated over the years. Many school systems have adopted a policy that bans cell phones on school ground in which I support. Cell phones can interrupt class discussions. For instance, students often forget to turn off their cellphones in class which lead distractions to teachers and fellow students. This interruption can take away some of their time in learning their lessons which can lead to discussing a different topic. Some students purposely interrupt a class with their phones but without them having it, they cannot use it for distractions. Next, it will be easier for students to pass notes in class because of texting and other social networking sites. They could easily use their phones for cheating. For example, my classmate in my Spanish class always brings his phone every day to class. I was so curious on why he kept getting high grades in test when he doesn’t even do his home works. One time when we had a test, I saw him translating the Spanish sentences on his phone which could be the reason on why he kept on getting high grades. The scariest reason on why I opposed having phones in school is because of the recent Rutgers controversy regarding bullying. There’s a student from Rutgers University named Tyler Clementi who committed suicide by jumping to the George Washington Bridge. His roommate posted a video of him kissing another man to twitter and sending it to his friends that made Tyler decide to end his life. With these high-tech gadgets especially cellphone, many people’s lives could be in danger. It is never wrong to try something new for safety of the students. The hassle and distractions of what cellphones can bring and any other gadgets in school can lead to more serious problems. It is better to take actions now while the problems are not severe yet. Banning cellphones in school ground won’t hurt the students, but it will rather make them more disciplined. It can also make them smarter because they wouldn’t have to depend on their phones for answers.

The case of Courthaulds Northern Textiles Ltd in the late 1970’s implied a duty formulated. Employers should not behave in a way likely to damage the trust and confidence between the parties. The House of Lords, however, rejected the decision and asked a consideration in the case in which an employer was conducting a corrupt and fraud busines s. The plaintiffs in that case had not been involved in the corruption but suffered financial losses and harm to their reputations. Their employment terminated for redundancy as the bank liquidities due to corruption and dishonest allegations. The plaintiffs declared how difficult it was for them to find other jobs. This was not their wrong doing anyway but due to the implied term of confidence. They sought ways to recover their losses without success. Their reputations damaged especially in the financing sector. The House of Lords said that the employer’s conduct was a breach of duty to ensure trust and confidence, which affected an employee’s future employment prospects. Lord Nicholls and Lord Steyn said that if one agrees to work with an employer, them cases of dishonest and fraud not tolerated. In case one found guilty of such cases then, he or she dismissed immediately. A breach of this term characterized with a reputation that leads employees into resigning or te rminating their contract.
